caramelized onion dip

Ingredients
- 3 medium white onions
- 2 red onions
- 1/2 cup dry red wine
- 4-5 dashes Worcehstershire
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 tsp chilli flakes
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1/4 tsp freshly grated pepper
- 4 oz cream cheese, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup full fat yogurt
- Chives to garnish
Directions
- Slice the onion in half then slice them thinly. Heat a large pan to medium heat. Add the olive oil and butter. Once hot, add the onions. Stir them periodically until they start to develop colour and brown.
- Once they start to brown, add salt, pepper, cayenne and Worcestershire. Sautee for 15 minutes. Add red wine and cook until the wine has reduced and the onions are dark in colour. This should take 15-20 minutes. Let the onions cool for 10-15 minutes.
- To a large bowl add the cream cheese and yogurt. Mix to combine. Season with salt and pepper. Add the onions and mix to combine. Garnish with chives. Serve with crackers, pita and vegetables.
