When I first posted the recipe reel for my homemade Ginger Ale to my Instagram page it went viral within days! People really loved how simple it was to make, and I received a lot of comments saying that I should try making a “ginger bug” which is essentially fermented ginger ale. That suggestion got me thinking that I should try other flavorings to add to the Ginger Ale. I decided to make a raspberry ginger ale which uses only 5 ingredients. This raspberry ginger ale is slightly sweet and tart making it a delicious and refreshing drink. Making your own ginger ale is so SIMPLE and uses minimal ingredients. It actually only takes 5 ingredients to make this raspberry ginger ale! Ginger ale from the store is loaded with sugar and preservatives! This version uses real ginger and is sweetened with pure maple syrup making it light and refreshing. I top mine off with sparkling mineral water and it doesn’t last too long in my fridge because everyone loves it so much! Let me know in the comments if you give this one a try!

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cook time: 30 minutes

Total time: 35 minutes

Servings: makes 1 ½ cups

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raspberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup of sliced ginger
  • 2 ½ cups water
  • 5-6 tbsp maple syrup
  • Juice from 1 ½ lemons
  • Sparking water of your choice

Directions

  1. Slice the ginger into think pieces and add them to a medium sized pot with 2 1/2 cups of water. Let this come to a boil and simmer for 30 minutes.
  2. Juice the lemons and add the maple syrup to a jar. Stir to combine.
  3. Purée the raspberries using an immersion blender or food processor. Strain the purée to remove the seeds.
  4. Strain the ginger and mash it with a spoon or potato masher to ensure that you release all of the liquid. Pour the liquid into a jar with the lemon juice and maple syrup. Let this cool.
  5. Fill a glass with ice, a quarter of the mixture, 2 tbsp of the raspberry purée and top with sparkling water.
