Who is Tomato Tomatoe?

My name is Cassandra and I’m a Canadian based recipe developer.

From a young age I could be found in the kitchen alongside my mother and Italian grandmother. They taught me the fundamentals of traditional Italian cooking. I’m a self-taught cook and for as long as I can remember I’ve always had a passion for cooking. You could always find me after school watching Lidia’s Kitchen, Barefoot Contessa, or Martha Stewart.

Growing up most of my friends and family told me that I should pursue some sort of career in food but I never knew what that looked like. Through my travels, experience and heritage, I took the leap to finally share my recipes and cooking on social media.  

From weekly Sunday family lunches, to learning about preserving vegetables for the winter with my grandparents; food has always been at the center of my life.

My approach to food focuses on using simple and quality ingredients. I believe that it’s important to source ingredients locally and to support local butchers, independent stores and farmers.

The name tomato tomatoe is inspired by my Italian heritage, growing up around my grandparent’s garden and my love for Sunday sauce.

I’m excited for you to follow along on my culinary journey and I hope that this will inspire you to get into the kitchen. I’m so excited to welcome you to the Tomato Tomatoe community!
